Montana State Constitution

Learn about the 1972 Constitution and the League's historic role in constitutional reform.

For this and future generations

League members studied constitutional reform, helped build public support for a convention, served as delegates, and campaigned for adoption of Montana's 1972 Constitution.

Nine of the nineteen women elected to the Constitutional Convention were League members. Their experience in nonpartisan study, consensus, and public participation helped shape the convention and its outcome.
